who killed archer?
The Answer...
The evening dripped with decadence, the estate alive with laughter and swirling gowns as Tony raised his glass in welcome at 7:00 PM sharp. By 7:30, the guests dined beneath the golden glow of the chandeliers, their conversations a symphony of pleasantries and deceit. Scarlet moved among them, serving with practiced grace, a picture of elegance—but her mind was elsewhere. Her plan was in motion: Tony would not leave this party alive.
At 8:10 PM, she lingered outside the library, hidden in the shadows just beyond the door as Tony and Archer spoke in hushed tones. The low murmur of Tony’s voice stopped her cold:
“She won’t see it coming. With the situation we’re in… I don’t have a choice. There’s nothing left.”
The blood drained from her face and she realized—Archer, her hired killer, wasn’t hers anymore. He had switched sides.
By 8:20 PM, Miranda and Archer left the library, and Scarlet slipped inside, hands trembling as she rifled through Tony’s desk. Her breath hitched as she found it—the life insurance policy, her name inked in damning black letters. The betrayal was absolute. Tony’s plan was clear: she was the sacrifice, and Archer would be the blade.
Scarlet’s fingers curled around the paper before she let it flutter back into the drawer. Her rage cooled, sharpening into something precise. If she was meant to die tonight, she’d rewrite the ending.
Stepping into the hallway, she locked eyes with Archer, her lips curving into something almost sweet. She pressed a note into his palm, her touch lingering like a promise. “Meet me at the caretaker’s house at 9:30. I’ll make it worth your while.”
Let him think she was still the fool.
At 8:45, she moved toward the coat check, slipping between guests unnoticed. Coat B21—Archer’s. A smooth reach into his pocket, a flick of her wrist, and the poison originally for Tony was now hers.
His own weapon. How fitting.
By 9:00 PM, she had found Archer at the bar, smiling as he went on about his favorite wine—Château Margaux. Her fingers grazed his as she turned away, fetching a glass from the back. A quiet pour. A careful drop of poison. When she returned, he accepted it without suspicion, tipping the glass in a silent toast.
Somewhere behind them, a bartender overheard a low voice murmur, “I’ll be taking this as the down payment” as Scarlet’s sapphire necklace disappeared into Archer’s pocket.
The price of her downfall.
By 9:10 PM, Scarlet was in the powder room, slipping a new necklace around her throat. No trace of what had been taken from her.
At 9:20 PM, Judy’s voice filled the ballroom. Scarlet listened, a ghost of a smile on her lips. Somewhere in the estate, the poison was beginning to take hold.
She had planned to meet Archer at 9:30, to watch the light fade from his eyes, but a rush of guests kept her occupied.
It didn’t matter. He wouldn’t last long now.
At 10:00 PM, Scarlet arrived at the caretaker’s house. The air inside was thick with the scent of old wood and dying embers. Archer was slumped in a chair, the glass slipping from his fingers, his breath shallow, his body beginning to fail him.
Scarlet took her time, stepping closer, letting him see her—letting him realize the inevitability of it all.
His lips parted, but no words came.
She leaned in, pressing a crimson kiss to his cheek, her voice barely above a whisper. “You always knew how to play both sides, Archer… but the game ends here.”
The glass fell. A soft clink as it hit the floor. Archer exhaled once—and never again.
At 10:03, Scarlet stood in Tony’s office, frantically rubbing Archer’s wine from her dress. “Damn fool,” she muttered, frustration edging her tone. A wet napkin hung from the trash, the door left slightly ajar.
By 10:10, she was back in the ballroom, slipping seamlessly into the crowd, her expression composed. Then—
A scream.
Rita’s voice tore through the estate, shattering the illusion of the perfect evening. The guests turned, eyes wide, gasps rising in unison. Scarlet stepped forward, the perfect portrait of shock.
The game was over.
But her performance had only just begun.

Tony Starke - The Philanthropist
Tony is a wealthy socialite with a passion for art and antiquities. Born into money, he inherited a fortune that he has nearly squandered buying rare and illegal treasures. He married his young wife Scarlet because he couldn’t stand the thought of anyone else having her, though he’s grown indifferent to her over time. Tony is secretly broke but hides his financial troubles behind a lavish lifestyle. He’s also having a casual affair with Judy for excitement and distraction. Tony’s greatest fear is watching his carefully curated reputation crumble if the truth about his financial struggles comes to light. His wealth and status are the pillars of his identity, and the thought of losing them is unbearable. Relying on Archer to discreetly acquire illegal artifacts and mask his deteriorating finances kept him afloat, but that reliance came at a cost. Now, Archer’s unpredictability threatens everything Tony has worked to maintain, making him more of a risk than an asset. And though Tony senses his wife’s growing dissatisfaction, he dismisses it as idle frustration, unaware that her own ambitions may soon make him the most vulnerable piece on the board.

Scarlet Starke - The Trophy Wife
Scarlet is Tony’s younger wife, who came from a poor background and used her beauty and cunning to escape her past life as a skilled thief and pickpocket. She tricked Tony into marrying her by playing the role of a perfect socialite. However, she’s become resentful and bitter, especially as she comes to realize Tony is almost broke and that she has no real financial security. She is having an affair with Senator Hoover and has put a hit out on Tony, planning to inherit his fortune, unaware that there’s hardly anything left. Scarlet is driven by survival, wealth, and power, seeing Tony’s death as her key to freedom and fortune. Trapped in a failing marriage, she believes eliminating him will secure her future, unaware that his finances are already in ruins. Her connection to Archer adds another layer of danger—whether he’s her accomplice or just a means to an end remains uncertain. She trusts him far more than Tony, but in a game of secrets and deception, trust is a fleeting luxury, and Scarlet may soon find herself with nothing at all.

Rita Skelton - The Gossip Columnist
Rita is a gossip columnist who goes by a pseudonym, mingling with the upper echelons of society and using her charisma to extract information from people who trust her. She’s always on the hunt for a new story, and Archer was often her source, feeding her just enough to keep her column hot. However, Rita once had a romantic relationship with Archer and believes he cheated on her with Judy, leading to their messy breakup. Rita wants revenge on Archer for what she sees as an unforgivable betrayal, a wound that still festers beneath her poised exterior. She feels humiliated, used, and cast aside like a pawn in whatever game he was playing, and the thought of bringing him down is nothing short of intoxicating. She thrives on secrets, collecting them like rare gems and wielding them with precision. Few can match her cunning, and even fewer can predict her next move, making her not just dangerous—but utterly unpredictable.

Miranda Prescott - The Businesswoman
Miranda inherited her late husband's shipping business and, with Archer’s help, turned it into a powerful empire. The success of a key land development project relies on insider information from Hoover, allowing her to buy up crucial properties before a new infrastructure bill passes. Archer holds evidence of their involvement, material that could destroy them both. Miranda offers him a share of the profits and Hoover’s protection, but if he refuses, eliminating him may be the only way to secure her future. Miranda is determined to protect her empire at all costs. She sees Archer as vital to her plans but recognizes that the evidence he holds could ruin her. Offering him a stake in the deal and Hoover’s protection is her way of securing his cooperation, but if he turns her down, she’s prepared to do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a threat. Whispers about her husband’s sudden death hint at a darker side to Miranda, one that even those closest to her may not fully understand.

Judy Gardner - The Singer / Actress
Judy is a rising starlet in Hollywood who owes her career to Archer, who helped launch her into the spotlight. She has been infatuated with him ever since, viewing him as her savior and mentor. While Archer has always seen her as a friend or sister, Judy’s feelings are much deeper, leading to heartbreak and jealousy. Judy is currently dating Tony, mostly as a way to distract herself from her unrequited love for Archer. Judy is emotionally fragile and torn between desire and despair, using Tony as a distraction from her own turmoil. She never truly loved him, but he offered an escape—something to cling to when reality felt too harsh. Her heartbreak over Archer’s indifference cuts far deeper, and if she begins to believe he betrayed or manipulated her, she may let her emotions drive her to something reckless—something she can’t take back.

Jay Garvey - The Reformed Criminal
Jay is a former mobster from New Orleans who turned his back on the criminal life at the end of Prohibition. He’s been trying to go straight, but his past haunts him. Archer helped Jay sever his ties with the mob, including breaking up his relationship with Candi, the daughter of the mob boss. Jay still struggles with guilt over his past decisions and the people he hurt, and he owes Archer his freedom and, in a way, his life. Jay is caught between loyalty and self-preservation, knowing the risks of staying entangled with someone like Archer yet feeling bound by a lingering debt. He’s worked hard to leave his criminal past behind, but the fear of exposure looms over him—one wrong move, and everything he’s built could collapse. Walking away would be safest, but severing ties isn’t so simple when the past refuses to let go.

Senator Hoover - The Politician
Senator Hoover is an ambitious yet incompetent politician who owes his career to Archer’s interventions during the Great War. Hoover’s blunders on the battlefield were repeatedly covered up by Archer’s bravery, and after taking credit for his actions, he earned himself a Medal of Honor and a promising career in politics. He has been dating Scarlet and often relies on Miranda’s support for his political campaigns. Hoover is desperate to keep his past mistakes under wraps and maintain his public image. He’s easily manipulated and fears that Archer, who knows the truth about his war hero story, could destroy him if he chose to. He’s become deeply entangled in Miranda’s schemes, being drawn into an illegal land development deal that would expand her growing empire. Hoover is focused on maintaining his reputation, even if it means aligning with Miranda’s dangerous plans.

Gabrielle Schanlè - Tony’s Secretary
Gabrielle is Tony’s secretary, hired because she’s the only woman to ever say “no” to him. She’s intelligent, resourceful, and seemingly loyal. However, in reality, she’s a German spy who uses her position to gather information on Tony and his dealings, including his work with Archer. Gabrielle was close to being exposed by Archer, who suspected her true identity and planned to out her to the government. Gabrielle's top priority is protecting her cover and ensuring she isn’t exposed to the authorities. Archer’s presence is a looming threat—if he stays, her downfall is inevitable. Desperate and dangerous, she knows survival means eliminating risks, and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to safeguard her mission and her future.

Agatha Carlisle - The Detective
Agatha is sharp, relentless, and always one step ahead—at least, that’s how things typically unfold. As a seasoned detective, uncovering the truth is second nature to her, but something about this investigation feels off. The deeper she digs, the more tangled the web becomes, as each lead pulls her further into a labyrinth of deception. For the first time, she wonders if she’s the one being played. Archer stands at the center of it all, a man with far too many connections and even more secrets. With the weight of justice on her shoulders and danger lurking in every shadow, she must decide whether justice is worth the risk—or if some truths are better left undiscovered.
